Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how JSONLint.app ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit www.jsonlint.app (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Your JSON Data Stays Private

All JSON validation, formatting, conversion, and related processing happens entirely in your browser (client-side). The JSON, code, or files you paste or upload are never transmitted to or stored on our servers. We cannot see, access, or retain the content you work with. The one exception is the optional AI Assistant: it sends only the text you explicitly submit to a third-party AI model, and only at the moment you choose to use that feature.

2. Information We Collect

We keep data collection to a minimum. We may collect:

  • Usage & analytics data — anonymized information such as pages visited, time on site, referring source, approximate (country-level) location, and browser/device type, collected via Google Analytics.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — small files stored by your browser to remember preferences and to support analytics and advertising (see below).
  • Log data — standard server logs (e.g. IP address, user agent) generated by our hosting provider for security and reliability.

We do not require you to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from the content you process.

3. Cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes:

  • Functional cookies — to remember your preferences, such as light/dark theme.
  • Analytics cookies — Google Analytics, to understand how the Site is used so we can improve it.
  • Advertising cookies — used by Google and its partners to serve and measure ads (see the Advertising section below).

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you may use the Site in private/incognito mode. Disabling cookies will not prevent you from using the JSON tools.

4. Advertising & Google AdSense

We use third-party advertising, including Google AdSense, to help keep the Site free. These advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other sites on the internet.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info or the NAI opt-out page.

For more information about how Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps, see Google's Privacy & Terms.

5. Third-Party Services

The Site relies on the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy:

6. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete it, and the right to opt out of personalized advertising. Because we do not collect or store the JSON content you process and do not maintain user accounts, the data we hold is limited to anonymized analytics and advertising identifiers managed by the third parties listed above.

  • EEA/UK visitors (GDPR) — you may exercise your data subject rights and lodge complaints with your local supervisory authority.
  • California visitors (CCPA/CPRA) — you have the right to know, delete, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You can manage ad personalization using the opt-out links in the Advertising section.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in the Contact section.

7. Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for a general, developer audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the Site, including serving all pages over HTTPS. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Contact Us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at jsonlintapp@gmail.com or via our Contact page.
